Among all the phyllosilicates that make up the mica group, we propose muscovite and phlogopite. They have the following characteristics:

  • Perfect cleavage: All micas split easily into thin sheets due to their layered structure.
  • Chemical inertness: They are generally resistant to most acids and bases, making them useful in harsh chemical environments.
  • Dielectric properties: good electrical insulator, especially muscovite and phlogopite.

Micas are used in a wide range of industrial applications, including thermal and electrical insulation, plastics, paints, cosmetics and even lithium production.
