News – COMPETITION
A great competition is organized in which you all can take part closely or by far!
On the European Fest of the Minerals - which took place on May 12, 2007, we organized a sculpture symposium on 7 Brignoles-Rosé marble-blocks of our quarry of Candelon.
These 7 blocks were offered to 7 different towns, which were interested in this project. Every block was worked by a sculptor on a topic of Provence.

From rounded gravel to the return of blocks: LA PROVENCALE CONSTANTLY STRIVING FOR GREATER DIVERSITY!!!
THE CANDELON ROCK SOFTENS THE STONE
The PROVENCALE SA company introduces a new product, THE ROUNDED GRAVEL. It has multiple uses, from swimming pool slabs to garden drives.
The famous ‘rosé’ of Brignoles will be available in a new form for private customers. The managers of PROVENCALE SA, which works the Candelon quarry, recently launched a new range: rounded gravel. To establish it in the market, they have invested some €400,000.
Smooth to touch, rounded in appearance, pink in colour, naturally, with all the right streaks, this product can be used for many purposes. On slabs, in exposed aggregate concrete or quite simply to build drives.
« You can walk bare foot on this round grit without hurting your feet.” Recreate a natural wear.
The quarry thus purchased special machines to polish the crushed gravel. The operation can vary in length, depending on the degree of rounding, from 12 to 24 hours. The process recreates the natural wear observed in rivers and the sea. [...]
This new product is intended solely for industrialists, professionals, materials merchants and garden wholesalers. But the company has its sights set on the export market, and particularly our European neighbours, who will be able to embellish their exteriors with the Candelon rosé, around their pools or in their gardens.
This round grit can also be mixed with concrete, on a large scale. Once the mix is poured, a product is applied to bring out the gravel on the surface.
The Candelon quarry is thus diversifying its production pending resumption of marble block operations scheduled for the end of 2004.
